The Global Talent Visa Program of Australia, also known as the Global Talent Independent (GTI) Program, is a streamlined visa pathway for highly skilled professionals to work and live permanently in Australia. The nominated persons will get the opportunity to live in Australia permanently as well as opportunities for innovation, with strong trading links and business-friendly regulatory approaches.

The Proven Talents Required from Each Nominated Applicants Including:

  • Prove they are internationally recognised with evidence of outstanding achievements and still be prominent in their field of expertise.
  • Provide evidence that they would be an asset to Australia, in their area of expertise.
  • S/He will have no difficulty obtaining employment in Australia or becoming established in their field of expertise.

 

  • S/He must have a referee (a recognized organization or an individual in Australia) who will nominate/recognize him/her as global talent, in the same field as the applicant is expert on {that means the applicant and the referee should work at the same field and the referee (who will be an Australian citizen or a registered organization in Australia) should be a known individual/organization at their field of expertise}.

Points to be considered before Apply:

  1. Candidates (for GTI visa program) must meet a high standard and show an exceptional track record of professional achievement(s). This may include senior roles, patents, professional awards and international publications and memberships.
  2. Places are also available to PhD graduates, and certain PhD students who are nearing completion of their thesis and can demonstrate their exceptional talent and international recognition in a target sector.

High Income Threshold

Candidates should have the ability to attract a salary at or above the Fair Work high income threshold of AU $158,500 per year basis. (This figure is adjusted annually on 1st July, current figure is adjusted as of 1st July 2021).

The second installment – in the case of each applicant who was 18 years or more at time of application and is assessed as not having functional English: AU $4,890. For any other applicant the second instalment is nil.

How to Apply

Step 1: Submit an expression of interest (EOI) using the Global Talent Contact Form

(If the applicant meets the program parameters, will receive a unique Invitation reference identifier and Invitation code to apply for a visa)

Note: Global Talent EOIs carry over to the following program year if not finalized by the submitted year. Applicant do not need to submit a further EOI in the new program year if have already submitted an EOI and never informed on approving or disapproving status on the lodged EOI.

Step 2: Apply for a visa

If received an Invitation reference identifier and Invitation code, lodge the visa application via ImmiAccount at Global Talent (Subclass 858) visa.

Applicant can add immediate family members at any time before the department decides on application outcome. Family members who apply for the visa must meet the department’s prior set health and character requirements.

Provide Nominators Endorsement:

As part of the application, the applicant must be nominated by an eligible individual or organization with a national reputation in Australia at applicant’s nominated field of expertise. The nominator will endorse applicant’s achievements and international standings. They are not required to provide any guarantee or support to get employment in Australia.

Global Talent Officers cannot be applicant’s nominator. The applicant also not permitted to change nominator once a Global Talent visa application has been lodged.

Impacts of COVID-19 at Global Talent Independent (GTI) Visa:

Individuals granted a visa under the Global Talent Visa Program do not require a travel exemption that means once the visa will be granted applicant can enter into Australia even there are travel restrictions for many visa holders mainly having non-residence status. All travelers arriving in​ Australia must quarantine for 14 days at a designated facility, such as a hotel in their port of arrival.​
